Wayne County’s 18 coaches earned an average salary of $40,417 in 2022, according to the U.S. Department of Education.

This is the 19th highest average salary per county earned by coaches at North Carolina post-secondary schools during 2022.

Wayne County is home to just one post-secondary school which paid coaches during 2022.

Male coaches of men's teams received $40,167 on average in Wayne County, while female coaches in charge of women's teams earned an average of $40,666.

Research from the Vanderbilt Owen Graduate School of Management found NCAA coaches are compensated like CEOs, with top coaches earning more than $1.5 million annually.
